Trial operation of the two wind turbines at Kallmünz-Brenntenberg II Wind Farm in the district of Dinau will start at the end of October. Official approval for the operation of the 138m-tall turbines is expected in early December.Work began on the foundations for the second stage of the 4.6 MW Brenntenberg II Wind Farm in March. Assuming an average wind speed of 6.5 m/s, each turbine has been calculated to generate about 4.8 million kWh of electricity annually. The two modern high-performance wind turbines built by ENERCON will provide local residents with clean, sustainable energy.

With a photovoltaic tracker array having already been completed in 2009, the new wind farm is the second renewable energy project in the Kallmünz area. One thorny aspect was the connection of the turbines to the nearby power grid. The grid connection cable has a length of 3.5 km and passes through difficult terrain, necessitating the construction of an underpass as well as rotary wash drilling in the forest floor and bedrock.

Following its completion, the wind farm financed by the bond issue will initially be operated by Green Energy 3000 GmbH itself and only sold after commissioning. Both wind turbines will be put up for direct sale complete with all rights.
